Search and Recovery of a police force helicopter in the Achensee
On Wednesday the 30th March 2011 a helicopter of the Ministry of the Interior crashes due to unknown reasons into the Achensee. All four occupants die in this accident.
The police, supported by the fire and water rescue services as well as German relief forces recover one dead victim and parts of the helicopter which are floating on the surface. An unsuccessful search for the wreck is started.
In the afternoon of the same day around 5 p.m, Wolfgang Falch and his team from SANDY AIR CORP are called in.
Within 90 minutes Falch first sighted the wreck using the Side Scan Sonar. It lies at a depth of 106 meters. Falch and his team, supported by the emergency services, search for the victims with cameras. On Friday, April 1, the last victim is finally found and salvaged. Saturday goes by with operations of the ROV to prepare the salvage.
In the following week, the wreck can be salvaged after planning and under the supervision of Wolfgang Falch/SANDY AIR CORP with the support of military and special divers.
An extreme mission is thus successfully completed without further accidents and victims within a very short time.
